Boswellia serrata - A study published in Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity reported, "...B. serrata extracts turn out to be effective in the treatment of diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease and osteoarthritis in which inflammation and/or oxidative stress exert an important pathogenic role." It further reported, "BS [Boswellia serrata] extracts also exerted beneficial effects in some autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, where chronic inflammation and an aberrant autoimmune response are hallmarks of the disease."

Bromelain - A study published in Biotechnology Research International found:

"It [pineappple] has been used as a medicinal plant in several native cultures and these medicinal qualities of pineapple are attributed to bromelain, which is a crude extract from pineapple that contains, among other compounds, various closely related proteinases, exhibiting various fibrinolytic, antiedematous, antithrombotic, and anti-inflammatory activities in vitro and in vivo."

Devil's claw - In Dr. David Rakel’s Integrative Medicine, 4th Edition 2018, which is a well-regarded, evidence-based reference text written by physicians who are experts in both traditional and integrative medicine writes:

"A 2007 review of the evidence found five systematic reviews on devil’s claw, with strong evidence of effectiveness in LBP [lower back pain] and osteoarthritis pain of the knee and hip. This effect was not inferior to NSAIDs. The review concluded by stating “since there is strong evidence for devil’s claw…the possible place in the treatment schedule before NSAIDs should be considered.”

Piperine - An article published in The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists reported, "Concomitant administration of 20 mg of piperine with curcumin, however, produced much higher concentrations within 30 min to 1 h after drug treatment; piperine increased the bioavailability of curcumin by 2,000%."

White Willow Bark - As reported in the Wiley online library: "In recent years, various in vitro and animal studies have demonstrated that the anti-inflammatory activity of willow bark extract is associated with down regulation of the inflammatory mediators tumor necrosis factor-α and nuclear factor-kappa B. Although willow bark extracts are generally standardized to salicin, other ingredients in the extracts including other salicylates as well as polyphenols, and flavonoids may also play prominent roles in the therapeutic actions. Adverse effects appear to be minimal as compared to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs including aspirin."
